'He did gift a goal to them, but look at the circumstances'

This is exactly what I mean. It was simply not good enough. Same as any other player that gifts the opposition a goal. Just because it is Payet he should not be let off the hook.

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
He did gift a goal to them, but look at the circumstances.

We were being pinned back and he was back helping our defence, trying to bring the ball out and play football. Lanzini often does the same.

Payet was excellent in the first half, and put in a good shift on Sunday too.

I think the problem last night was playing a young, inexperienced centre forward and leaving him isolated up front.

Let's hope it's the end of that fecking song as well.

Cringe every time I hear muppets singing it.

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
Payet does think he is bigger than the team. Infact many fans would even agree with the sentiment.

He was very average last night and was at fault for one of their goals. But it is Payet so we will just blame the defence for that one.

I dont want to see him go but he looks like a player that knows big clubs are sniffing and he wants out.

Bexley Ironworks 10:50 Thu Dec 1
Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
For me that's part of the problem. He's been bigged up so much by the fans and the club with the constant singing of the payet song, giant posters around the stadium etc, his ego is about to explode. The hero worship at times I find a bit embarrassing, to the point where I reckon he does think he's bigger than the team, rather than part of a team because of it. I wonder how he'd react if the crowd didn't sing his song during the next game? Last season he thrived on the crowd chanting his name and said as much in interviews. This season it seems like he expects it, regardless of the shift he puts in and that's an issue. He needs to earn the adoration, not get handed it to him on a plate.

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
stewie griffin 10:15 - Merson said as much the other week on Soccer Saturday, he said it would be disgusting if he wanted to go in January as he owes WHU, if it wasn't for us he wouldn't be in the French side and no one would know who he is!

They all agreed no one will pay big money as it's dead money £30M plus wages on a player thats 29 and probably be his last team.

Also agree

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
I thought he was doing well until he played his part in gifting the second goal to the mancs. Once again Ogbonna played his part, why the hell can't he belt the ball into the stand rather than farting about.

Difficult for Payet when he is playing in a very poorly motivated side (not team) pity Bilic didn't do a 'Wenger' last night, as it is more injuries/

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
he's one of the most in form players in the world going into this season

he's playing for circus FC and hes fucking French so I'm not surprised by his body language

there will be life after Payet

whether the dopes involved in transfer deadlings spend the money wisely or not is another matter

no point in being stubbord and turning down offers if he doesn't want to be here in jan

I would suggest he has been tapped up, possibly by man utd, and has been offered 200k+

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
Don't get me wrong, I get that - but it doesn't matter who you are and what level you're playing at, there must be some kind of professional pride that kicks in - to give the ball away on the edge of your own box and then simply stand there and watch as your opponent runs past you is not on, under any circumstances, at any level of the game, from any player.

His refusal to celebrate a goal was just odd.

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
Stewie - 100% on the money. It's fucking pathetic.

I'm sick of the adulation steeped upon this French cunt, yes, he has been very good for us, for ONE season, but hardly anyone had heard of him before he come here, and he is being compensated to the tune of 120k a week (approx 4-5 years wages for most) to be 'fed up'

Time to turn it in treating him like some messiah, he even said himself that it's a bit embarrassing.

Hopefully he will turn it on on Saturday instead of running around for 90 mins like a girl.

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?

I agree with you, but I do understand peoples comments. The day of a footballer playing for the shirt is over, especially in the Prem.
These footballers, especially the foreign players are cited as god like and above everything else. In the media and in what they earn and what the agents tell them they are the messiahs.

They expect a club to back them and make them look good by investing so they don't have to work so hard. When it goes to rat shit the player will not accept it is their personal failing.

This is the real world of football and a player will sulk and moan to get another club with more money and a better wage cheque for their them and their family.

So sell him, give another player a chance and build a team capable of allowing the youth to also get a chance, so that money is not an answer to all our problems.

Yes Stewie, what Payet has 'done' is comparable to the of Di Canio's episode.

Crikey.

stewie griffin 10:15 Thu Dec 1
Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
Can't for the life of me understand some people.

Oh its ok, he must be fed up because we're shit.

Same with Di Canio in 2002/3 - oh its ok for him to fall out with the board, the manager and his teammates and go AWOL for 3 months in the middle of a relegation battle because Glenn Roeder is a cunt.

No. It's not fucking ok. These ungrateful foreign cunts want to remember why they're in the position they're in, because of West Ham United. Didn't get that kind of shit from BONDS or BROOKING when they were playing in far worse teams.

Thames Ironworks 10:13 Thu Dec 1
Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
I suppose Payet if fed up to have to be the player relied upon. The team need to put in a shift to support and if they are not good enough then that's the manager and boards fault.

At the end of the day we have bought players from leagues that are not a par with the Premier league. They may look great in say the Turkish league, but in the Prem different all together.

Truth is we spent a lot on sub par players for this season rather than invest in a tried player to improve the key position of striker.

Basically if you go to a jumble sale with a shed load of cash and buy junk, then you'll be lucky to find a gem.
If you go to a quality store and spend on something with a good accolade then you are virtually guaranteed quality.

I still class our owners as Steptoe and Son, sniffing around the flea markets.

Pogba wants him at Man U because they link well for France

The rest is down to the price

Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
I'd like to think he would at least stay professional and respect the fans who have idolised him in his short time here.

The way he just stood there after giving away the pass for the second goal was shocking.

Trevor B 10:04 Thu Dec 1
Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
He didn't celebrate when we scored, in fact he looked very non-bothered about it. I think his head is already elsewhere.

riosleftsock 10:02 Thu Dec 1
Re: Payet doesn't look happy does he?
Payet put in one of his biggest shifts on Sunday, I've never seen him do so much pressing and tracking back.

First half of last night was much the same. He was probably knackered.
